Reverend George A. Chien, Pastor

Pastor George was ordained in the United Methodist Church in 1983, and has served parishes in rural and suburban settings in upstate New York and Connecticut before coming to MCC Hartford. He was born and raised in the Catskills of New York State, and earned his BA from Lambuth College in Jackson, Tennessee, and his MDiv from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois.

He has most recently served as a transfer clergy on staff at MCC NY, the teaching church of the Northeast District of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC), as he made the transition from a closeted life to an out gay ministry. He makes his home in Hartford, with his partner, Julio. His two children, Nathan and Rebekah, reside in West Virginia.
